Mid-Year Freak Out Tag 2019

Hii Guys! Its again that time of the year where we reflect about how half the year has passed by and it all happened so fast. This has been a super great reading year where I came across some amazing new authors and books. Some of these books have gone on to become my absolute favourites. I read 27 books and I have a goal of 50 for my Goodreads Challenge.

I am excited to do this tag which also doubles up as an update post. This tag is going around a lot and I saw it at Melting Pages.

Best Book You’ve Read So Far

Wow this question is difficult because there are some amazing books I have read this year. I will name three books for this: The Bone Witch Series by Rin Chupeco, Jade City by Fonda Lee and A Spark of White Fire by Sangu Mandanna.

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far

Finale by Stephanie Garber which is the last book in the Caraval series is easily one of the best. I love this series and Finale was a near perfect ending to the series.

New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want To

Again so many. There have been so many great books this year so these are the ones I am really excited to read:

Most Anticipated Release For The Second Half Of The Year

The Never Tilting World by Rin Chupeco, The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern and Jade War by Fonda Lee are right on the top.

Biggest Disappointment

King Of Scars by Leigh Bardugo. Its not like it was bad but I just expected a lot from it and was severely disappointed.

Biggest Surprise

A Spark of White Fire by Sangu Mandanna. It is one of the best sci-fi I have ever read and I did not think I would love it this much. It has become an all time favourite.

Favourite New Author

Fonda Lee, Rin Chupeco and Sangu Mandanna have become my new favourites. I would read anything and everything by them and know that I will love it.

Newest Fictional Crush

I do not really have a fictional crush as of such. If I had to go with someone I admired I would go with Kalen from The Bone Witch series and Max from A Spark of White Fire.

Newest Favourite Character

Tea from The Bone Witch Series and Laila from The Gilded Wolves. Both of them are strong, resilient and beautifully written characters I have ever read. I really adore them.

Book That Made You Cry

A  House of Rage and Sorrow which is book 2 in the Celestial trilogy. ( Book 1 being A Spark of White Fire). It was so emotional and heart wrenching and you’ll really need to read this book if you haven’t.

Book That Made You Happy

Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuinston. I had a constant smile while reading this book and it is super adorable and heartwarming.

Favourite Book To Film Adaptation You Saw This Year

I saw Crazy Rich Asians which I really liked a lot. I have not read the book though and I usually do not like reading books after I have seen the movies so I might not read the book.

Favourite Review/Post You’ve Written So Far

I love the reviews I wrote for : Jade City, The Shadow Glass, Stronger than a Bronze Dragon and Red, White and Royal Blue. I also really enjoy writing my recommendations post: Diverse Books, Diverse Romance Books, Anthologies

Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought So Far This Year

I haven’t bought many books this year but out of the few The Palace of Illusions is my favourite. Its simple and beautiful and that glitter touch is perfect.

What Books Do You Need To Read by The End of The Year ?

ALL OF THEM. Honestly, I do not set a TBR so I do not even know what I am going to be reading next week but I do hope I can reach my goal of 50 books by the end of the year.

  4. Mid-year already and I’m still slightly behind on my GR goal (but catching up!). Good list too – I had The Bone Witch on my TBR since forever and Red, White and Royal Blue has been recommended to me by at least 10 people by now 😂
