My Favourite Books of 2020

Hello everyone and wishing you all a happy new year! I am posting after such a long time because I took an unintended hiatus since I was in a creative slump but I am finally feeling better enough to post and hopefully be consistent as well. I also really wanted to write this post and share my 2020 favourites.

2020 has been a good reading year and I managed to read 70 Books! I found many new favourites and tried out some new genres as well. Overall, I hope to carry my reading energy into 2021 as well.

Without further ado, here are some of my 2020 favourite reads which I absolutely loved:

The Wolf of Oren-Yaro and The Ikessar Falcon- K.S.Villoso

I adore this series so much and I thank Shealea for introducing me to it because this character-driven adult fantasy is hands-down one of my faves. I can’t wait for the end of the trilogy which releases this year.

The Fever King and The Electric Heir – Victoria Lee

I read this series because so many people on book twitter were raving about it and rightfully so because this duology is brilliant and I truly loved it so much! It was everything I love in a book and if you haven’t read this series, I highly recommend you do!

The Silence of Bones- June Hur

June Hur is one of my new favourite authors after reading The Silence of Bones because of how stunning the book was! It was a thriller/mystery set in 1800s Korea and it was so well-written and atmospheric, I can never praise it enough!

The Poet X and Clap When You Land- Elizabeth Acevedo

Another new favourite author I read in 2020 was Elizabeth Acevedo. It was after reading The Poet X, that I knew that I would always love anything she writes. Clap When You Land was just as amazing and even though I haven’t read With the Fire on High yet, I know I will definitely love it.

Circe- Madeline Miller

I buddy read this book with Nandini and we both were so blown away by the excellence of this book and it also makes you FEEL and I am excited and scared to read The Song of Achilles because I know it’s going to be so good and emotionally charged.

Cemetery Boys- Aiden Thomas

Cemetery Boys was so fun and precious and I buddy read this with Kal and Kate and we remember just going all UWU over some of the moments in this book and it was such a precious read.

Mexican Gothic and Gods of Jade and Shadow- Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Gods of Jade and Shadow was one of the most unique fantasy I have ever read and its highly recommended for its characters and well-written story. Mexican Gothic is definitely one of my top 3. This is the first time I read a horror gothic novel and this book was the best. I buddy read this one with Kate, Lili and Whitney and it was even more fun because of that.

Take A Hint, Dani Brown- Talia Hibbert

I was so excited to read this book because I had loved Get A Life, Chloe Brown so much. I think I loved this one even more as it was the absolute best. It also makes me so much more excited to read Act Your Age, Eve Brown which releases this year.

The Burning God- R.F.Kuang

The end to one of my favourite series ever was emotionally wrecking and so painfully beautiful. This was definitely my top book of 2020 and honestly it was so amazing. I don’t think words are enough to talk about how precious this series is to me.

I’ll Be the One- Lyla Lee

I’ll Be The One is a heartwarming and fun contemporary read and I heard the audiobook for this one which was so good and I truly enjoyed it so much and it was an overall positive book which made me happy.

The Silvered Serpents- Roshani Chokshi

The Silvered Serpents which is book two in The Gilded Wolves trilogy was amazing too. There were lot of things happening and Severin was top tier annoying but overall it was a great book and only got me more excited for the next book!

Raybearer- Jordan Ifueko

Raybearer was a surprisingly amazing book and I was so amazed by how stunning and intricate it was in its world building and storytelling as well. I listened to the audiobook which was awesome and I hope I can read a physical copy soon too so that I can annotate.

Blazewrath Games- Amparo Ortiz

Blazewrath Games was a sports fantasy with dragons and it was so much fun that I thoroughly enjoyed reading it so much. I can’t wait for the next book to come out!

These Violent Delights- Chloe Gong

This was one of my year-end reads and it was violently delightful and beautiful. It was so stunning and I love Juliette and Roma so much! I’m so pumped to read this series ahead!

Some of my other faves worth mentioning are:

Lobizona- Romina Garber, We Set the Dark on Fire duology- Tehlor Kay Meija, A Song of Wraiths and Ruin- Roseanne A Brown, Want- Cindy Pon, Wicked As You Wish- Rin Chupeco , Of Curses and Kisses- Sandhya Menon

These were some of my favourites but I was lucky enough to have read many good books in 2020 and I hope I can continue this streak this year too!
