Header (The Never Tilting World)

Hello friends! Today is my stop on The Never Tilting Blog Tour hosted by the wonderful Shealea @ Caffeine Book Tours. This book was one of my most anticipated book and I am really glad to bring this post to you today.

Synopsis: Frozen meets Mad Max in this epic teen fantasy duology bursting with star-crossed romance, immortal heroines, and elemental magic, perfect for fans of Furyborn.

The Never Tilting World (The Never Tilting World, #1)

Generations of twin goddesses have long ruled Aeon. But seventeen years ago, one sister’s betrayal defied an ancient prophecy and split their world in two. The planet ceased to spin, and a Great Abyss now divides two realms: one cloaked in perpetual night, the other scorched by an unrelenting sun.

While one sister rules Aranth—a frozen city surrounded by a storm-wracked sea —her twin inhabits the sand-locked Golden City. Each goddess has raised a daughter, and each keeps her own secrets about her sister’s betrayal.

But when shadowy forces begin to call their daughters, Odessa and Haidee, back to the site of the Breaking, the two young goddesses —along with a powerful healer from Aranth, and a mouthy desert scavenger —set out on separate journeys across treacherous wastelands, desperate to heal their broken world. No matter the sacrifice it demands.

The Never Tilting World is an immersive, beautifully written and an excellent fantasy. I was excited for this book ever since I first heard about it and I am so glad that it lived up to my expectations and actually surpassed it as well. Five reasons why you must pick up this book:

An angsty and sweet bodyguard f\f relationship

Odessa was one of the twin goddess and a romance lover. She loves reading romance novels and is a sweet and genuine character. Tianlan is her bodyguard/healer and is a hardcore person who is suffering from PTSD and I want to give the biggest hug to her. Their relationship was kind of complicated but also really sweet. Their support and care for each other would definitely make you swoon.

A enemies to friends to lovers relationship

Haidee was the second twin goddess and has a love for the mechanics. She loves working on machines and is also an animal lover. Arjun is a super sweet guy cinnamon roll (who wants you to believe he isn’t) and belongs to a tribe and who is not fond the ruling crown. He is an amputee and fire wielder. Their chemistry and camaraderie was simple awesome and fun to read and I absolutely love these two so much!!!

All about family and sister bonds

The story of The Never Tilting World is in essence about family and sister bonds. It emphasizes on the importance of family, both blood family and found family. The story is also about sisters and their bonds and it follows the lives of two generations of sisters and how their decisions brought about a disaster for the world. I also loved that there was so much focus on found family and the importance of treasuring those who truly love and support you.

Super intriguing plot

I absolutely loved the story. The synopsis sounded so good so it definitely piqued my interest then. When I started reading it, I was hooked right from page one. The story is about two sisters whose decisions years ago brought about the disaster called the Breaking where the world stopped spinning. One part of the world experiences perpetual night time and the other half is perpetual day time. Both the halved do no know the other exists. Now years later, the next generation of sisters are the ones who can change it and the book follows their story.

Immersive writing and world building

Rin Chupeco is one of my favourite authors. The Bone Witch series is my true book love. In this book, her writing is just as beautiful. This book has 4 POVs and it was very interesting to read the way she wrote it and especially how she brought it together in the end. The last few chapters were smashing and true to a Rin Chupeco book it left me with tears in eyes and wanting more.

The world building and the magic system were also great and well explained and there were “gates” to channel different elements and magic. The mix of science and magic in addition to mythological fantasy blew me away. The concept of the world not spinning is brilliant and the resulting problems and repercussions was also emphasized. Rin Chupeco has mentioned that she was inspired by the ongoing climate crisis and we can see some similarities we can connect to. The difference in the lifestyles of people and how they have to make do with the available resources is well written.

The story is very character driven and hence the first half is slow in terms of pacing but it did not affect my experience much since I loved reading about the characters a lot! In the last 25% of the book, it becomes fast paced and I kept on turning the pages to find out what happens.

Overall, The Never Tilting World is an immersive and well written fantasy. The characters are top notch and nuanced and the plot is brilliantly executed. It’s the kind of book which leaves you completed awed and it will definitely leave you with a satisfied feeling.

About the Author

Author photo (Rin Chupeco)

Rin Chupeco has written obscure manuals for complicated computer programs, talked people out of their money at event shows, and done many other terrible things. She now writes about ghosts and fantastic worlds but is still sometimes mistaken for a revenant. She is the author of The Girl from the Well, its sequel, The Suffering, and the Bone Witch trilogy.

Despite an unsettling resemblance to Japanese revenants, Rin always maintains her sense of hummus. Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, she keeps four pets: a dog, two birds, and a husband. Dances like the neighbors are watching.
